Project example Solar module regeneration Task A small proportion of solar modules lose their insulating properties after a few years and therefore need to be replaced. Our customer collects large quantities of defective modules and recycles them using various processes. The defective insulation is often a plastic film or plastic coating used on the back of the solar cells that develops cracks. Water and dirt penetrate the cracks, reducing the insulation resistance. The back of the solar modules is cleaned with water, which improves the insulation values, but these are not always satisfactory. Solution We carried out a test setup for cleaning in the laboratory. After mechanical cleaning, the modules were rinsed with completely demineralized water, then recoated, and the increase in conductivity was measured periodically. Conductivity is a measure of the substances removed. When there was no further increase, the modules were rinsed again with demineralized water. The modules were then dried and resealed. The following data was derived from this experiment: Required exposure time for deionized water (DI water) Required DI water quality and quantity for cleaning This data was used to determine the effort required for water treatment and purification and the proportionate costs for purification. In addition, a reclaim system was designed to recover most of the deionized water. Do you need advice? This is treated and fed into the municipal water supply as a substitute for municipal water. This saves approximately 70% of the fresh water and wastewater costs of RO. 60% lower energy costs thanks to frequency-controlled pumps Frequency-controlled pumps enable the system to operate in a highly energy-efficient manner. This allows pressure and temperature fluctuations in the inlet water to be smoothed out as much as possible, saving up to 60% in energy costs at the outset. Protection against hard water thanks to automatic soft water monitoring (SWM-A) The SWM-A monitors the water hardness in a pipe. If hard water is detected in the pipe, the device emits a warning signal. This protects sensitive consumers such as reverse osmosis systems or steam boilers from hard water. Reverse osmosis with concentrate recovery Reverse osmosis systems with concentrate recovery are suitable for recovering concentrate from reverse osmosis systems. The yield of a system with a concentrate stage is between 90% and 95%. The resulting product water is fed in as a substitute for municipal water/soft water. The existing concentrate pressure is further utilized and brought to the required operating pressure by an additional pump. The second pump allows the main stage to operate independently of the concentrate stage. This enables us to achieve maximum operational reliability. In addition, the permeate quality is improved by concentrate recovery. This is because the conductivity of the permeate from the second stage has a lower LF than the municipal water it replaces. Konzntrat-RO Automatic soft water monitoring (SWM-A) The device monitors the water hardness in a pipe, protecting soft water consumers from hard water. The process The SWM-A is equipped with a hardness sensor as a detector. After a hardness breakthrough is detected, the device displays a hardness message. The sensor is reactivated by flushing with brine. A multi-way valve with injector is integrated into the device for this purpose. Brine consumption is very low. No other chemicals are required. The SWM-A is equipped with an electronic control system that can be flexibly adjusted for various applications. View brochure Do you need advice? - Nanofiltration | Spiegl GmbH
- Entsalzungsanlagen | Spiegl
Entsalzungsanlagen zur Voll- und Teilentsalzung von Prozess- und Kesselspeisewasser – reduzieren Sie Salzgehalt und Ablagerungen. Jetzt individuelle Lösung anfragen. Full and partial desalination During desalination, dissolved salts in the water are removed by ion exchange. The systems are used for many applications, including the production of rinse water, process water, boiler water, and more. Sensor-controlled water softening systems Spiegl water softeners are equipped with a sensor to detect when the resin bed is exhausted. This feature is unique and patented by Spiegl. Sensor-controlled water softeners only regenerate when the bottle is actually exhausted. In contrast, water meter-controlled systems regenerate according to a calculated value and not according to the state of exhaustion. After regeneration, the user-friendly touch panel can be used to check whether the regeneration was successful. In the event of an error, you receive an immediate notification and have time to react. In the event of an operational malfunction, e.g., salt shortage or low pressure during regeneration, we detect faulty regeneration or hard water breakthrough and protect sensitive technology such as reverse osmosis or boilers with an alarm. The commissioning of a sensor-controlled system is more user-friendly, as no extensive capacities need to be calculated and safety is guaranteed. This means that the system can be put into operation easily and without complications. Do you need advice? - Degassing | Spiegl GmbH
Degassing Degassers reduce the oxygen, carbon dioxide, and nitrogen content in water, mainly to prevent corrosion. We distinguish between membrane degassing, CO2 degassing, and vacuum degassing. Membrane degassing units (MDUs) offer an efficient, compact, and maintenance-free technology for removing carbon dioxide and oxygen from water without chemical treatment. Membrane degassing is a standard technology in industrial applications such as boiler feed water, district heating, power generation, and pharmaceuticals. The removal of carbon dioxide and oxygen can prevent corrosion in boilers and pipelines, protecting investments, extending the service life of equipment, and reducing operating costs. Removing these gases can also increase process efficiency, e.g., in EDI plants. Do you need advice?
