Surface treatment We have experience in water treatment in the following areas: Wastewater-free engine production Softening of cooling lubricant emulsion for magnesium Supply of various water qualities for automotive plants Treatment of water from a contaminated site to produce deionized water Water supply for a production plant with over 10,000 employees Full desalination for paint shops Experience and customized solutions: Water purification systems for car washes Reverse osmosis for spot-free rinsing of cars Cabinet systems Circulating ion exchange systems Hot water and condensate treatment systems Pure water supply Circulating systems Membrane separation systems Brackish water treatment for surface technology Surface water treatment Pure water supplies for cleaning systems Services and experience in water treatment for surface treatment To prevent residues from forming on surfaces during washing and cleaning, the water must be as pure as possible and have low conductivity values. Processes in the coating or paint shop must be silicone-free. If treated water is used in cleaning processes, considerable time savings can also be achieved during work. Osmosis water means that surfaces do not need to be dried after washing cars or cleaning parts, for example. In addition to saving working time, treated water offers many other advantages that facilitate industrial cleaning and can save costs in the long term. References Water treatment for paint factory Water treatment for a paint factory near Stuttgart. The requirement was for product water to be used for mixing paints and varnishes. A system consisting of softening and reverse osmosis was supplied, which was constructed in a completely silicone-free design. All components were dismantled and cleaned or replaced with silicone-free parts. Water treatment for parts cleaning or coating Water treatment for parts cleaning or coating requires process water with low conductivity so that no residues remain on the parts to be cleaned after cleaning. This is achieved through a combination of softening and reverse osmosis. If the parts are coated or painted, the process must be silicone-free, otherwise “craters” will form in the paint. To achieve silicone-free status, all components are disassembled and cleaned or replaced with silicone-free parts. Discover more products or contact us. Product overview

Patent of the Spiegl company Sensor-controlled water softening systems Spiegl water softeners are equipped with a sensor to detect when the resin bed is exhausted. This feature is unique and patented by Spiegl. Sensor-controlled water softeners only regenerate when the bottle is actually exhausted. In contrast, water meter-controlled systems regenerate according to a calculated value and not according to the state of exhaustion. After regeneration, the user-friendly touch panel can be used to check whether the regeneration was successful. In the event of an error, a message is displayed immediately, giving you time to react. In the event of an operational malfunction, e.g., salt shortage or low pressure during regeneration, we detect faulty regeneration or hard water breakthrough and protect sensitive technology such as reverse osmosis or boilers with an alarm. The commissioning of a sensor-controlled system is more user-friendly, as no extensive capacities need to be calculated and safety is guaranteed. This means that the system can be put into operation easily and without complications. Reverse osmosis, ultrafiltration, and nanofiltration Reverse osmosis Reverse osmosis is typically used for water desalination, as this treatment method covers the widest range of applications, as shown in the diagram. Nanofiltration, on the other hand, is used to remove undesirable substances either completely or partially. Ultrafiltration Ultrafiltration is a special filtration process. This process can even be used to separate and concentrate macromolecular substances and extremely small particles from water. Nanofiltration Compared to reverse osmosis, nanofiltration requires lower water pressure, typically below 7 bar, which means lower energy consumption compared to a reverse osmosis system with the same throughput capacity. - Food & Beverages | Spiegl GmbH
Food & beverages The industrial production of food and beverages is one of the largest industries worldwide. Since the water used is part of the end product, water quality is very important. The Drinking Water Ordinance and the Mineral and Table Water Ordinance specify clear requirements for drinking water that must be used in the production of food and beverages. Food and beverage manufacturers therefore require various systems for filtration, softening, partial and complete desalination, and sterilization of the water. Spiegl GmbH works with you to develop customized and efficient solutions for optimal results. Services and experience in water treatment for beverage and food production Karl Spiegl GmbH & Co. KG offers standardized and customized solutions for beverage and food production. We have experience in the following water treatment solutions: Water supply solutions for food producers up to 500 m³/h Comprehensive water supply for a town with several hundred inhabitants Private water supply for single-family homes and apartment buildings from well water Production of soft drinks Mineral water treatment Individual water supplies for residential buildings Concentrate dilution for beverage production Boiler feed water treatment systems for high-pressure steam boilers for direct steaming of food Sterilization systems Pure water supply for air humidification by atomization Lebensmittel & Getränke References Well water treatment for starch factory in Emsland Waterworks for a potato starch factory In Emmlichheim in the Emsland region, we built a well water treatment plant for a potato starch factory. The plant was expanded several times to approx. 500 m³/h. The existing waterworks produced drinking water from surface water and was no longer up to date. On several occasions, inadequately treated water was supplied to a plant built by us. Problem Investigation into how groundwater can be used as an alternative to surface water. Groundwater is available in sufficient quantities, but has a high iron, manganese, and ammonium content. Iron: up to 30 mg/l Manganese: up to 1-2 mg/l Ammonium: approx. 5 mg/l (depending on the soil) Solution We selected a 3-stage plant technology that seemed suitable for this water. The customer had a separate building available for this purpose. The first stage is a film filter in which the water is aerated and most of the iron and ammonium is removed. The second stage removes the remaining iron, and the third stage removes the manganese. Drinking water treatment for luxury hotel Drinking water treatment plant 20m³/h A highly customized freshwater treatment solution was implemented in a luxury hotel in Sicily. The space available required a special solution. Sand filters, activated carbon filters, reverse osmosis with dosing, and subsequent remineralization of the water were implemented here in 2019. Problem The drinking water supply in a luxury hotel in Sicily did not meet the desired quality standards of technicians and guests. The water had a high chloride content and tasted salty. In addition, it was sometimes cloudy and contained suspended solids. Technical facilities such as the kitchen and laundry room experienced regular malfunctions due to the high water hardness and inadequate water quality. Solution Complete treatment of municipal water. Starting with gravel filters to remove suspended solids. Activated carbon filters to remove recurring chlorine in municipal water, as this destroys the RO membranes and ion exchange resins. Followed by reverse osmosis with stabilization. To make the water suitable for drinking and showering, we have rehardened it and enriched it with minerals. Discover more products or contact us. - Product and Process Water | Spiegl GmbH
Product and process water Process water treatment is required wherever water is available that is not suitable for the planned process. We investigate how raw water can best be brought up to the required process water quality. The customer's environmental conditions are also taken into account, resulting in the most efficient treatment possible. We have experience in water treatment in the following areas: Contaminated site remediation Chemicals, oil, gas Process water treatment for fuel cells Product water Rinsing water References Boiler feed water system for pure steam generation Container system for well water treatment refinery In 2020, we supplied a container-mounted well water treatment system with a brine bunker for supplying liquid brine to the water softening plant for a refinery in Rhineland-Palatinate. Complete container assembly planned and executed by us: Sand filter Quality-controlled double softening system in serial duplex piping Double pump station Flushing pumps and flushing air blowers for the filters SPS-S7 control system with touch panel visualization and data exchange with control room Water softening from contaminated site remediation Contaminated site remediation has been underway for some time at the factory premises of the largest automotive supplier in Stuttgart. The groundwater level is being lowered within the factory premises. The water produced in this process is softened and then stripped of chlorinated hydrocarbons using a stripper. The exhaust air is treated with activated carbon. The water goes into the receiving water (in this case, this means direct discharge into a river, i.e., not through a sewage treatment plant). The treatment costs are very high. Task The existing water softening system was approx. 40 years old and very inefficient. The system needed to be overhauled. Solution During our inspection of the system, we determined that it was operating very inefficiently. A 50% reduction in operating costs, salt, wastewater, and electrical energy was realistically possible. The existing water softening system was replaced with a new system featuring modified process technology. Capacity 3 x 50 m³/h at up to 50°dH total hardness. The system was equipped with hardness sensors to adapt to fluctuating water hardness. Discover more products or contact us. Product overview
